Anonymous asked: Why do you write so much?
“After nourishment, shelter and companionship, stories are the thing we need most in the world.”
—Philip Pullman
“Amateurs sit and wait for inspiration, the rest of us just get up and go to work.”
—Stephen King (via writingquotes)
“There is no rule on how to write. Sometimes it comes easily and perfectly; sometimes it’s like drilling rock and then blasting it out with charges.”
—Ernest Hemingway (via writingquotes)
“I feel more kinship and intimacy with certain characters described in books and certain images I’ve seen in prints than I feel with many so-called real people, who are of that metaphysical insignificance known as flesh and blood. And ‘flesh and blood’ in fact describes them rather well: they’re like chunks of meat displayed in the window of a butcher’s, dead things bleeding as if they were alive, shanks and cutlets of Destiny.”
—Fernando Pessoa, “The Book of Disquiet” (via planb-becomeapirate)
“I will not be “famous,” “great.” I will go on adventuring, changing, opening my mind and my eyes, refusing to be stamped and stereotyped. The thing is to free one’s self: to let it find its dimensions, not be impeded.”
—― Virginia Woolf, A Writer’s Diary (via thesearepeopleyouknow)
“First you have nothing, and then, astonishingly, after ripping out your brain and your heart and betraying your friends and ex-lovers and dreaming like a zombie over the page ‘til you can’t see or hear or smell or taste, you have something.”
—T.C. Boyle (via writingquotes)
A mistake with the date...
It seems there was a mistake with the date in the message from Write World about the flash mob.
The message should have said, Friday April 13th.
Hello! We’re undertaking to coordinate an online flash mob for three very special writing blogs. We have asked three of our followers to nominate one writing blog each to be the subjects of the flash mob, and on Friday, April 13th, we will ask our followers to go to one or more of the nominated blogs and post encouragement, comments, and critiques of the blogger’s creative writing posts. But we need your help to spread the word! Will you join us by reblogging our call to action on the 13th?
Bookworms aren't people who love to read. They are people who treat books as treasures.
