books are the perfect entertainment(via Lizz the Librarian: Book Musings)
Writing is the only thing that, when I do it, I don’t feel I should be doing something else.
OMG You guys!!
You guys know that I started college a couple of months ago, well, I am so proud to say that I have gotten the scores back for my first 2 English papers and I got 100% on BOTH of them!!!
I really can’t believe it! But I am so happy! I am working really hard and it was kind of overwhelming at first so I had to take a break from my blogs. But I am starting to get the hang of things, and I am going to start working on the blogs again.
I miss you guys and I hope you are all doing well.
You must stay drunk on writing so reality cannot destroy you.
For me, writing a novel is like having a dream. Writing a novel lets me intentionally dream while I’m still awake. I can continue yesterday’s dream today, something you can’t normally do in everyday life.
Not every child takes instantly to books like a duck to water, but I don’t believe there are children who hate books. There are just children who haven’t yet found the right books for them.
Writing and reading decrease our sense of isolation. They deepen and widen and expand our sense of life: they feed the soul. When writers make us shake our heads with the exactness of their prose and their truths, and even make us laugh about ourselves or life, our buoyancy is restored. We are given a shot at dancing with, or at least clapping along with, the absurdity of life, instead of being squashed by it over and over again. It’s like singing on a boat during a terrible storm at sea. You can’t stop the raging storm, but singing can change the hearts and spirits of the people who are together on that ship.
